Tugboat Life is a growing online community of members of the maritime community, including tug and barge personnel at all levels, port and dockside workers, and tugboat and maritime enthusiasts worldwide. Company Overview Two tugboat captains, Capt. @Bobby Johnson, and Capt. @Judd Spence began the Tugboat Life site in 2007 because they wanted to provide a place where they could show potential mariners what our lifestyle is really like, and the benefits of working in the shipping and maritime industries. Our hope is that we can improve recruiting and retention, and at the same time, reach out, connect to, and unify the maritime community. Our community has more than 3000 registered members, and our site receives more than 20,000 page views in the last 30 days according to Google Analytics. Of those page views, more 75% represented unique visits, and nearly 10,000 of those visitors spent significant time visiting different pages on the site. Our forum discussions and photo galleries are the most popular elements of our site. In the years we have been in the industry, the requirements of the job have changed. We see and understand the demand for professionally trained, experienced crew members at all levels. We all feel the impact of recruiting, staffing and retention issues; environmental issues; changing maritime laws; heightened security requirements; workplace safety and technology as it relates to our industry.
Currently, Tugboat Life is built upon the generous contributions of a few members. Tugboat Life has been in continuous operation since May 2007. The number of registered users is growing daily, and demonstrates that we offer the maritime community an exceptional, valuable and enjoyable online service. Our audience is very focused on the maritime industry. Most of our registered users are active maritime workers. They contribute regularly to the site, in the form of news, comments, and photographs of their boats. Our mission is to learn, safely, the inner workings of the towing industry. |
