New Temporary Safety Zones in Boston |

The USCG has created two temporary safety zones with a radius of 500 meters around two submerged turret loading buoys. The zones are approximately 13 nautical miles SSW of Gloucester, MA. Only LNG carriers and their support vessels will be permitted inside the zones until further notice.

TWIC Enrollment Begins in Memphis |

Port workers in Memphis may now enroll in the Department of Homeland Security's TWIC program. Ultimately, workers at the nation's 147 ports will all be enrolled. Workers can pre-enroll at the TSA web site (www.tsa.gov/twic) or at the Coast Guard's enrollment site. (homeport.uscg.mil). Pre-enrollment speeds the process of enrolling by allowing workers to provide basic information and schedule a time to complete the enrollment process.

Australia To Require New Maritime Crew Visa |

Beginning January 1, 2008, all ships' crews arriving in Australia or calling on Australian ports must have a Maritime Crew Visa (MCV). Approaching vessels must submit crew lists 96 hours prior to arrival. If ineligible crew are aboard, the approaching vessel will have time to apply for the documentation prior to the ship's arrival. Ships that arrive without proper documentation are subject to a fine.

The TSA has announced the follwoing schedule for enrollment for TWIC cards during the month of December and the first week of January. Personnel at the ports listed below will be able to enroll as follows:
• Tulsa, OK: Dec. 12.
• Albany, N.Y., Dec. 13.
• Seattle, WA: Dec. 13.
• NY/NJ Staten Island: Dec. 20.
• NY/NJ - New York: Dec. 27.
• Wilmington, N.C.: Dec. 27.
• Duluth-Superior, MN: Dec. 28.
• Jacksonville, FL: Dec. 28.
• New Orleans, LA: Dec. 28.
• NY/NJ - South Hackensack: Jan. 4.
