Lawmakers in Michigan are looking for a quick way to reverse water losses in the Great Lakes. Although an international group is studying the phenomenon, Michigan politicians are anxious to keep lake levels from dropping further by creating flow-inhibitors that the State says will stem water loss caused by Federal shoreline alterations, dredging and sand mining conducted in the 1960's. Those actions triggered an erosion problem which is now allowing significant amounts of water to escape the lake system.

Monday, 29 October 2007 12:45 |
A mechanic in New Zealand has developed a hover craft with extendable wings that can fly at an operating height of 4.5 feet above the water level when it reaches its top speed of 60 mph. After crashing on its maiden voyage, the inventor tinkered with the device a bit and it now runs as advertised. In addition to the pilot, the hovercraft can seat one other [lucky/brave/stupid] individual.
