A military review into a tugboat sinking that killed two Newfoundlanders has found the response into the tragedy was hampered by water-laden survival suits, rough seas and miscommunication.

The National Defence report into the sinking of the Check-Mate III also found that the search mission co-ordinator was interrupted by calls from the news media.

Crain Barge Capsizes Near Staten Island PDF Print E-mail

NEW YORK - A barge carrying a crane capsized near Staten Island at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008.

The CB Sussex reported that the crane it was transporting fell partially into the water and onto the Atlantic Salt Flats. There were no injuries reported but 50 gallons of oil was said to have spilled.
