US and Canada Searching Ships For Asian Gypsy Moth PDF Print E-mail

The US and Canada will be conducting offshore inspections on ships from Japan to prevent the spread of the Asian Gypsy Moth. Ships that already possess a pest-free certificate by a recognized institution may enter US and Canadian ports without a second inspection. Vessels that dock at Hannan, Ooita or Hiroshima between June 1 and August 15; Sakata between July 1 and September 15; or Hachinohe, or Hakodate between July 15 and October 15 are at an increased risk of being infested with the pest.
