APM Reportedly Set To Open New Hampton Roads Container Terminal PDF Print E-mail

According to PortWorld, APM Terminals is ready to begin operations at the Port of Hampton Roads in Virginia. The new terminal has been under construction for the last three years and reportedly cost about $450 million.  The new terminal is expected to compete with Halifax for container service and will add terminal capacity at a critical time.

European Seafarers' Union Protests Non-Union Workers PDF Print E-mail

The European Transport Workers' Federation protested the growing use of nonunion workers on European ferries. Citing a 19 percent increase in the use of nonunion workers and the corresponding drop in the use of unionized labor, the ETFW protested by showing Members of the European Pariliament why the use of nonunion labor, especially on passenger ferries, is dangerous.
