Monday, 23 July 2007 08:30
Clerks at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are still negotiating, having submitted a new 'last, best and final'offer on Saturday. The Marine Clerks Association of the International Longshore Warehouse Union represents about 930 clerks. The clerks' contract expired June 30.  Wages are the major issue. The union last went on strike in 2002, costing the US economy an estimated $1B per day for the 10-day strike.
