A 500-gallon fuel oil spill over the weekend on the St. Johns River in Florida is being attributed to a local towing company. The US Coast Guard responded to the spill, which happened early Saturday morning, near the Lions Club Boat Ramp. The Coast Guard will not name the company responsible for the accident until its investigation is complete. Recovery and cleanup efforts have begun, but no damage estimates have been made. The spill has coated the shoreline in the area of the accident, and could also affect local wildlife.
