by The Associated Press Friday April 25, 2008 MARQUETTE -- Crews have cleaned up an oil spill in the Lower Harbor in Marquette. The area was closed after the U.S. Coast Guard was notified of the leak on Monday. The tugboat was pushing a barge when a mechanical thruster broke off near the Shiras Generating Plant. Coast Guard officials said environmental contractors have been able to collect more than 30 gallons of oil using a vacuum truck. They picked up more oiled debris from the shoreline.Divers have located the thruster. The area is surrounded by a containment boom, and boaters are asked to stay away. A crane and salvage barge will try to recover the thruster by the weekend.
