Beginning January 1, 2008, all ships' crews arriving in Australia or calling on Australian ports must have a Maritime Crew Visa (MCV). Approaching vessels must submit crew lists 96 hours prior to arrival. If ineligible crew are aboard, the approaching vessel will have time to apply for the documentation prior to the ship's arrival. Ships that arrive without proper documentation are subject to a fine.
