| Ship's Master Sentenced To One Year For Collision While Drunk |

A Polish sea captain whose vessel collided with an unmanned gas platform int he North Sea was sentenced to 12 months in jail. Zbigniew Krakowski was the skipper of the MV Jork when he ignored the advice of the Chief Officer immediately prior to the collision. Krakowski, who was drunk at the time, remained in charge of the vessel, which sank after ramming the platform. No one on board the Jork was injured in the collision, but that did not carry much weight with the British court that adjudicated the matter. Click Read More for a link to the full story.
