Nine Filipino sailors aboard the tugboat MV Glenn Freedom were rescued by the Indian Coast Guard after drifting off course. The vessel experienced a total loss of power and the crew were stranded at sea for more than three days with no supplies. The boat encountered difficulty on October 7 and drifted until October 10 when it was able to issue a distress call. The vessel was found adrift 150 nautical miles from shore in one of the busiest navigation channels in Asia. All nine sailors are recovering in India while the vessel is undergoing repairs.
