The Port of Wilmington, DE will begin enrolling workers in the TWIC program, beginning next week. The credentials will cost $132.50 and remain valid for five years. Aside from Houston and Wilmington, other ports that will begin enrolling workers in November are: Corpus Christi Baton Rouge Beaumont Honolulu Oakland Tacoma Chicago/Calumet Port Arthur Providence Savannah Mariners who already possess a substantially comparable background verification, such as a hazardous materials endorsement on a commercial driver's license, a Merchant Mariner's Document, or a Free and Secure Trade (FAST) credential will pay a reduced TWIC fee of $105.25. From Marine Log: On October 16, port workers, longshoremen, truckers and others at the port of Wilmington, Del., will become the first workers in the U.S. to enroll in the DHS Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program. The program ensures that any individual who has unescorted access to secure areas of port facilities and vessels has received a thorough background check and is not a security threat.
