US Customs and Border Protection has announced final rules for the transmission of electronic manifests for passengers, crew and supernumeraries on-board vessels arriving in and departing from the United States. For departing ships, passenger manifests must be transmitted no later than 60 minutes prior to departure. Arriving ships must deliver a passenger and crew manifest between 24 and 96 hours prior to arrival. Changes will take effect in February, 2008. Click Read More for a link to the full story. From PortWorld: The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has promulgated a final rule concerning electronic manifest transmission requirements relative to travelers (passengers, crew, and supernumeraries) on-board international commercial flights and voyages arriving in and departing from the United States. For sea travel, the rule will require carriers to transmit passenger and crew manifests for vessels departing the United States no later than 60 minutes prior to departure.
