The US Coast Guard has intercepted a self-propelled, semi-submersible vessel off the coast of Guatemala that was carrying 5.5 tons of cocaine with an estimated street value in excess of $350 million. The four-man crew of the unusual craft was arrested, after sinking the vessel when they realized that they had attracted the unwanted attention of Customs and Border Protection, the Navy and the Coast Guard.

U.S. forces have intercepted a submarinelike vessel packed with tons of cocaine off the coast of Guatemala and arrested the crew.
Four suspects were captured after they abandoned the self-propelled, semisubmersible vessel when it was discovered by officials from Customs and Border Protection, the Navy and the Coast Guard, the customs agency said Wednesday.
The vessel was intercepted Sunday off the coast of Central America about 300 miles southwest of the Mexico-Guatemala border.
