Hamas Creates New Coast Guard Agency for Gaza |

The Times of India is reporting that Hamas has created a new Coast Guard unit, which will initially consist of 150 members. The new unit is expected to begin operations shortly. Its major mission will be to prevent drug smuggling into Gaza, to protect fishermen and to maintain security for residents on Gaza's beaches.

GAZA CITY: Hamas' militia policing Gaza, the Executive Force, on Saturday announced the formation of its new coast guard unit- the Marine Police.
Saber Khalifeh, a spokesman for the Executive Force, said the new body will consist of 150 members and soon begin its operations off the coast of the Gaza Strip.
