According to RTE News, the captain of a vessel which crashed into a North Sea oil platform has appeared before a British magistrate to face a single count of being drunk while in charge of a sea vessel. The captain, whose blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit, did not enter a plea. Zbigniew Krakowski will remain in custody until a September 10 hearing on the matter. The other three crew members aboard the M/V Jork were rescued at sea and are staying in Norfolk. The Jork had been carrying 2,000 tons of wheat, which became waterlogged when the hull was damaged, and sank in deep water about 450 meters from the platform. Captain Zbigniew Krakowski, 56, appeared before magistrates for a second time over the incident in which the Jork struck the unmanned Viking Echo platform 65km northeast of Norfolk on 4 August.
