Fukujin Kisen, owner of the bulk carrier Pasha Bulker, which ran aground in June off the coast of Australia, has retrieved the ship's rudder, which was embedded in the seafloor off of Nobbys Beach. The rudder, which is estimated to weigh 10 tons, snapped off the stricken ship when the ship was refloated. It was transported to a secure facility in the Port of Newcastle by a tug and barge. Click Read More for a link to the full story. From BYM News: The rudder section of the coal carrier Pasha Bulker, which went aground on Nobby’s beach at Newcastle in June, has been retrieved today. The rudder, which broke away from the ship during the successful refloating operation, in early July, has been lying off Nobbys Beach since then.
