The Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority has approved $3.1 million in construction and maintenance contracts for the port.  The improvements include the installation of a redundant transformer for the Barbour's Cut terminal; Stage 2 of the marine gate expansion for the Bayport Marine expansion, which includes the installation of canopies, booths and pedestals, as well as the installation of two platform scales, two additional exit lanes and two entrance lanes with truck scales.  The port will also advertise for competitive sealed bids for splash zone painting for Wharf nos 1-7 and the Lash Dock at Barbour's Cut; and for an air emission inventory at the Port of Houston as a follow-on to a 2002 study of vessel emissions in the Houston-Galveston area.
